2017 Purina Outstanding Amateur Field Trial Retriever Award
Poised with much promise and natural talent, a 4-year-old male Labrador Retriever named “Mickey” (FC-AFC Hockley Creek’s Switch Hitter) delivered as one of the country’s elite field trial retrievers in Amateur stakes, having won the prestigious 21st Annual Purina Outstanding Amateur Field Trial Retriever Award. Mickey earned 30.5 points during the yearlong competition with four wins to give owner-handler Robby Bickley of Gainesville, Texas, his first Purina Award.
“Mickey is an incredibly smart dog. Once he locates a bird, he immediately begins thinking about the next. Watching him perform sends chills down my spine,” says Bickley, who has been Mickey’s sole trainer throughout his field trial career. Among his other accomplishments, Mickey, bred by James Roberts of Claremore, Oklahoma, and Joe O’Brien of Tulsa, Oklahoma, also qualified for the 2017 National Amateur and Open Championships. “Mickey has spoiled me with his impressive achievements at such a young age,” Bickley says. “A lot of luck and hard work have gotten us to where we are.”
Mickey is fed Purina Pro Plan SPORT Performance 30/20 Formula.
