About Dr. Fran Smith

Frances O. Smith, DVM, PhD, DACT, became a Diplomate of the American College of Theriogenology in 1986. After a long career, Dr. Smith retired in 2023 from full-time private practice as a small animal practitioner specializing in canine reproduction. One of few board-certified theriogenologists in private practice, her expertise in genetic counseling, chilled and frozen semen, and reproductive infertility of the male and female canine is well known throughout the United States. Dr. Smith maintains veterinary licenses in Mississippi and Colorado. She frequently speaks to breed groups, veterinary associations and students, and the general public.
