About Dr. Fran Smith

Frances O. Smith, DVM, PhD, DACT, became a Diplomate of the American College of Theriogenology in 1986. After a long career, Dr. Smith retired in 2023 from full-time private practice as a small animal practitioner specializing in canine reproduction. One of few board-certified theriogenologists in private practice, her expertise in genetic counseling, chilled and frozen semen, and reproductive infertility of the male and female canine is well-known throughout the United States. Dr. Smith maintains veterinary licenses in Minnesota, Mississippi and Colorado. She frequently speaks to breed groups, veterinary associations and students, and the general public.
