Pete Barber of Yadkin River Coonhounds
Submitted by wife, Tina (a surprise to Pete).
Pete's story was featured in American Cooner in an article written by Amy Kovac-Thomas in (November or December) one of the Fall 2010 issues in a series that she referred to as "Circle of Friends." I'm sorry that I do not have a copy of it to submit. He has devoted his breeding program to a bloodline known as "Yadkin River," and has become a respected member of the coonhound/coonhunting sporting community.
Although he did not win, he was nominated by his peers as the Southeastern Treeing Walker Association Breeder of the Year in 2011. There is so much more to tell, but that would best come from Pete himself.
We have fed and helped to promote Purina Products for over 30 years and have been a member of the Purina Pro Club off and on during that time. The dogs always have been and probably always will be a big part of our lives.
The special dog in Pete's life is "Geoff," who came to him in the form of a gift. Geoff's puppies did well from the beginning and proved that he was going to be a good reproducer. Pete has sold puppies out of Geoff or bred to females from most of the southeastern United States, and all up and down the eastern seaboard, and even into Canada, Illinois, Missouri, and Arkansas.
