NITE CH CCH GR CH Kentucky Mtn Diamond Cutter, an English Coonhound, captured Best in Show at the UKC World Championship. The 3-year-old male was bred by handler Penny Jessup, who co-owns “Cutter” with her husband, Jody.

The bright TV lights during “The National Dog Show Presented by Purina” didn’t outshine “Gia,” a 4-year-old blue brindle female Greyhound. Handled by pro handler Rindi Gaudet, Multi-BIS/Multi-RBIS Brazilian, PANAM, Int, FCI, GCH GrandCru Giaconda CGC dazzled the crowd and judge James Reynolds to earn Best in Show and become the sixth consecutive Purina® Pro Plan®-fueled National Dog Show winner.

“Gia has so much breed type. Her head, neck and expression are beautiful,” Reynolds said. “She is a good galloping hound, as a Greyhound should be.”

Ending the year on a high note, a Purina® Pro Plan®-powered Labrador Retriever won the National Retriever Club (NRC) National Open Championship. Meanwhile, two English Springer Spaniels swept the top two placements at the English Springer Spaniel Field Trial Association (ESSFTA) National Open Championship.

The first Best in Show of the three-day cluster went to GCH TullyBloom’s Classified Credentials, the current No. 1 West Highland White Terrier in the country, and handler Alfonso Escobedo at the Greater Collin Kennel Club Dog Show. “CC” is a 3 ½-year-old bitch who was co-bred by owners Paula and Charles Cohen with Judith White.

GCH Coventry Just a Little Crush, a 3-year-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi bitch, captivated judges to win the Texas Kennel Club Dog Show. Handled by Michael Shepherd, “Etta” was co-bred by Kerry Kirtley with owners Bill Shelton, Steve Leyerly, and Dr. Beckie Williams, who co-own her with Jim & Judy Johnson.

GCH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect, the No. 2 dog in the country, dominated the weekend with three Bests in Show, including shows held by the Simi Valley and Santa Barbara kennel clubs. The 3-year-old male Old English Sheepdog called “Swagger” is breeder-owner-handled by Colton Johnson.

Capturing the National Bench Show and Nite Hunt titles, two Purina® Pro Plan®-powered Coonhounds swept Autumn Oaks this September.
