Gearing up for summer, Purina® Pro Plan® dogs are heating up the show ring! Read on for the latest specialty and all-breed show results from around the country.

Poodle Club of America National Specialty
April 18-25, 2014
Salisbury, MD

At the Poodle Club of America National Specialty, Purina Pro Plan Poodles made history by winning all three Bests of Variety.

In Toy competition, Baliwich Bacchus, handled by Chelsay Paul-Grubb, captured Winners Dog, Best of Winners and Best of Variety. 

CH Bellefleet’s Living In The Fast Lane, handled by Crystal Murray, won Miniature Best of Variety.

Lastly, GCH Dawin’s Hearts On Fire, a 3-year-old bitch, took Best of Variety in Standard competition before winning Best of Breed. Bred and owned by Linda Campbell, “Flame,” the No. 3 dog in the country, is handled by Sarah Perchick. 

Gateway Cluster
May 2-5, 2014
Gray Summit, MO

Purina Pro Plan dogs swept all three Bests in Show at the Gateway Cluster, held at the Purina Event Center.

GCH Cambria’s Vraiment Parfait, a 2 ½-year-old Doberman Pinscher bitch, won shows held by the Rolla and Spirit of the Heartland kennel clubs. “Z,” who currently is the No. 1 Doberman Pinscher and No. 5 Working dog in the country, is co-owned by Glen Lajeski, Ann Wulbrecht, Karen Thompson, and handler Ann White, who co-bred the dog with her husband, Jim.

Winning the Jefferson County Kennel Club of Missouri Dog Show was GCH Grandgables The Frat Boy (“Brother”), a 6-year-old male Shetland Sheepdog, handled by Sarah Krickeberg. Bred by Guy Jeavons and Mark Houston-McMillan, the No. 1 Sheltie and No. 5 Herding dog in the country is co-owned by James Moses with Pamela and Andres Buckles.

American Boxer Club (ABC) National Specialty
May 3-9, 2014
Indianapolis, IN

GCH Brisbane N Blue Monday’s Diamonds Are Decadent not only captured Best of Breed with the help of handler Kim Calvecca, but also won the Top 20 at the ABC National Specialty. The 2-year-old Boxer bitch, who is called “Suri,” is co-owned by William and Zoila Truesdale, Joseph Vegnetti, Elizabeth McKamey, and breeder Misty McKamey. Purina Pro Plan Boxers won seven of 11 top honors at this year’s ABC National Specialty.

Colonial Rottweiler Club Specialty
May 6-8, 2014
Lancaster, PA

At the Colonial Rottweiler Club Specialty, Johann Emedi handled GCH Avatar Cosmac Storm to Best of Breed. “Mac,” a 2 ½-year-old male, is owned by Marilyn Brennan, Jack McIlwaine, Andy McIlwaine, and breeders Geri Bidgood and Roxanne Robertson.

German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America (GSPCA) National Specialty

Oconomowoc, WI

Taking Best of Breed at the GSPCA National Specialty was GCH Ehrenvogel Achy Breaky Heart, one of 12 Purina Pro Plan-fed German Shorthaired Pointers to capture the event’s top honors. The 2 ½-year-old male was bred by Ann Claire Lester and handler Marina Renee Lara, who co-owns the dog with Carlene Swensson.
