As the 2014-2015 Purina Derby Top Field Trial Bird Dog, a stylish Pointer called “Jack” was poised for field trial greatness. Now as the winner of this year’s Purina Top Field Trial Bird Dog Award, Dunn’s Tried ‘N True has done just that, becoming the first dog to win both Awards in the program’s 54-year history. Handled by pro Luke Eisenhart of Albany, Georgia, the 2016-2017 Purina Top All-Age Handler, Jack garnered 3,115 points from nine points-earning placements in open all-age horseback stakes throughout the yearlong competition, topping 84 dogs. “Jack is a consistent, competitive dog who always aims to please. He’s a true, far-ranging all-age competitor, but very seldom do we lose him,” says Will Dunn of Lebanon, Kentucky, who owns Jack with his wife, Rita. Bred by Chris George of Barnesville, Georgia, the 4-year-old male was sired by Miller’s Dialing In (“Spec”), the 2014-2015 Purina Top Field Trial Bird Dog and 2015 National Champion.
