2016-2017 Purina Top Shooting Dog Award

A white-and-liver Pointer named “Bolt” dominated the shooting dog circuit this past field trial season to come out on top as the 2016-2017 Purina Top Shooting Dog Award winner. Handled by pro Shawn Kinkelaar of Effingham, Illinois, and Carson, North Dakota, the 2016-2017 Purina Top Shooting Dog Handler, Chelsea’s Thunder Bolt finished the yearlong competition with 2,555 points from eight placements in shooting dog stakes, topping 78 dogs. “When he’s turned loose, Bolt’s sole purpose is finding birds. He’s an outstanding team player who’d rather work with me than independently,” says Kinkelaar. Bred by Brad Sadler of Chelsea Plantation in Ridgeland, South Carolina, the 5-year-old male is co-owned by Dr. Tom Jackson of Columbus, Indiana, with George Hickox of Ochlocknee, Georgia, and Carson, North Dakota. He is fed Purina Pro Plan SPORT Performance 30/20 Formula.
