2016 Purina Outstanding Derby Retriever Award
A confident, hardworking black Labrador Retriever called “Flex” powered through his first field trial season, acquiring 55 points and winning 13 Derby stakes to secure the Purina Outstanding Derby Field Trial Retriever Award. Flawless Execution – FLEX, who is co-owned by Johnny and Kathy Armstrong of Winston Salem, North Carolina, with Jane McCullough of Chester, Maryland, finished his Derby career with 95 points. “Flex is steady and focused on the line. He’s just as eager to work on the last retrieve of a trial as he is the first,” says Johnny Armstrong, who handled the 2-year-old male with pro Jason Baker of Baker Retrievers in Lincolnton, Georgia. The dog’s call name, Flex, is an acronym for his registered name, Flawless Execution – FLEX, which the Armstrongs chose based on the philosophy that flawless is an unattainable perfection that can propel one to an even greater performance while striving to reach a goal. Flex is powered by Purina Pro Plan SPORTPerformance 30/20 Formula.
