2018-2019 Purina Top Shooting Dog Derby Award
A consistent, promising white-and-orange Pointer called “Jill” has a bright field trial future ahead, having been crowned the 2018-2019 Purina Derby Top Shooting Dog to close out her derby career. Silver W Jill Z, as Jill is formally known, earned 995 points from placements in nine points-earning shooting dog stakes, including five wins, to top a 51-dog field and finish more than 250 points ahead of the runner-up. The win also marked the first Purina Derby Award for pro trainer Shawn Kinkelaar of Effingham, Illinois, who handled the 2-year-old female during her derby season.
“Jill is an outstanding, promising young dog,” says Kinkelaar, a now 17-time Purina Award winner. “She’s consistent, easy to run, willing to please and has a strong desire to find birds. She showed up trial after trial, and we had very few outings in which she wasn’t a strong contender to place.” Bred by Brad Sadler of Chelsea Plantation in Ridgeland, South Carolina, Jill is owned by Debbie Ozner of Ochlocknee, Georgia, who says, “I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to train with a legendary handler like Shawn. He’s been so supportive of my dogs and me, and I’m thankful for the scouts that have helped Shawn and Jill along the way.”
Jill is fed Purina Pro Plan SPORT Performance 30/20 Formula.
