2018-2019 Purina Amateur Top Field Trial Bird Dog Award
A consistent 6-year-old female Pointer called “Claire” took hold of the amateur all-age circuit under owner-handler Jim Pendergest of Lexington, Kentucky, to capture the 12th Annual Purina Amateur Top Field Trial Bird Dog Award. Claire, who is formally known as Dialed In, earned 1,003 Purina points from six points-earning placements throughout the prestigious national yearlong competition, outperforming nearly 50 dogs that also tallied points toward the final standings.
“Claire has a special nose and a precise talent for finding birds from a great distance,” says Pendergest, who spent 18 weekends on the road traveling more than 13,000 miles to field trials across the country this past season. “Claire has taken us places we’ve only dreamt before. It’s been a real thrill to own a dog like her.” Bred by Cecil Rester of Angie, Louisiana, Claire is the only Purina Award winner to have produced another Purina Award winner. Pendy’s Good Grace, a female out of Claire’s first litter, won the 2016-2017 Purina Derby Top Field Trial Bird Dog Award under Pendergest’s son Matt, who scouted for Pendergest and Claire this past season.
Claire is fed Purina Pro Plan SPORT Performance 30/20 Formula.
