Lagotto Romagnolo ‘Orca’ Wins Best In Show At 2020 Jacksonville Show
Powerful movement, perfect footing, effortless gliding across the ring, a 2 ½-year-old white-and-brown female Lagotto Romagnolo named “Orca” won Best in Show at the 2020 Jacksonville Dog Fanciers Association show Nov. 7 in Ocala, Florida, out of 1,453 dogs competing. A superstar on European circuits before arriving in the U.S. in late July 2020, Orca captures the best of Italy’s adorable truffle-hunting breed.
Handled by pros Phil and Amy Booth of BlueRose Kennels in Mims, Florida, Orca has excelled from the beginning, taking seven Sporting Group Firsts in just 10 weekends.

Before she was 2 years of age, Orca had won 22 Bests in Show in Fédération Cynologique Internationale shows, including two times winning Supreme Best in Show and topping all-breed entries of 6,000 dogs. At the 2020 Crufts Dog Show in Birmingham, England, Orca took Gundog Group Second out of more than 5,300 entries. Bred by Sabina Sinkovic Zdunic of Rijeka, Croatia, Orca is owned by Victor Malzoni Jr. of Malibu, California, her breeder Zdunic and Ante Lucin of Croatia.
Recognized by the American Kennel Club in 2015, the Lagotto Romagnolo was originally bred as a waterfowl retriever then gained a reputation as the world’s finest truffle dog having a keen nose for rooting out the rare and delicious delicacy.
